Article 130
Corruption by a Public Official
A public official or person selected to be a public official who, directly or indirectly, corruptly demands, seeks, receives, accepts, or agrees to receive or accept any undue advantage, or anything of value personally or for any other person or entity, in return for being influenced in the performance of any official act, or for doing or not doing anything in his official capacity in respect of any matter or transaction,
#is guilty of corruption by a public official, punishable in the following order of graduation:
#an offence under this Article for an amount not exceeding 100,000 Nakfas, or any other benefit calculated to be equivalent to that amount, shall be punished as a Class 6 serious offence, punishable with a definite term of imprisonment of not less than 7 years and not more than 10 years;
#an offence under this Article for an amount between 100,001 and 1,000,000 Nakfas, or any other benefit calculated to be equivalent to that amount, shall be punished as a Class 5 serious offence, punishable with a definite term of imprisonment of not less than 10 years and not more than 13 years;
#an offence under this Article for an amount between 1,000,001 and 5,000,000 Nakfas, or any other benefit calculated to be equivalent to that amount, shall be punished as a Class 4 serious offence, punishable with a definite term of imprisonment of not less than 13 years and not more than 16 years;
#an offence under this Article for an amount exceeding 5,000,000 Nakfas, or any other benefit calculated to be equivalent to that amount, shall be punished as a Class 3 serious offence, punishable with a definite term of imprisonment of not less than 16 years and not more than 19 years.
