Article 185

Aggravated Escape

Where a person who commits an offence under Article 184:

(a)

uses a weapon;

(b)

was serving a sentence of life imprisonment or is under a sentence of death;

(c)

the escape is attempted or completed by a number of persons acting together;

(d)

commits violence on another during the escape attempt; or

(e)

has been entrusted with the surveillance, escort or custody of the escapee,

is guilty of aggravated escape, a Class 9 serious offence, punishable with a definite term of imprisonment of not less than 1 year and not more than 3 years.
