An employee who is permanently disabled as a consequence of an employment injury shall be entitled to the following compensation:

where the disability is total, a sum equal to six times his annual wages; and
where the disability is partial, a sum equal to the percentile of disability times six times his annual wages.
The employer is responsible for payment of these sums but may deduct any amount received by the disabled employee from workers compensation insurance or other insurance obtained by the employer on behalf of his employees.
