If the hotelkeeper receives a sum of money or credit in advance, it shall be considered to be an advance payment towards the price of the lodging and services to be provided under the contract.

The hotelkeeper may apply the advance payment to any liability owed to him by the guest under the contract or the provisions of this Chapter.
He shall return the advance payment to the extent it exceeds the amount due him.
