When a risk materializes or payment is due under the contract of insurance, the insurer shall pay the agreed sum at the times specified in the policy.

The liability of the insurer under the contract of insurance shall not exceed the amount specified in the policy.
The insurer is solely responsible for the payment of the agreed sum even if the insurer has entered into a contract of reinsurance with respect to that policy.
