A reasonable compensation may be awarded to the fiance or the fiancee who is not responsible for the breach, by way of compensation for the moral prejudice caused by the breach of betrothal.

In establishing the amount of the indemnity, the Court shall have regard to local custom.
The indemnity awarded as compensation for moral prejudice may not exceed ten thousand Nakfas.
