Unless the injured party prefers to institute a separate civil action, or unless the offender has fully paid for any damages caused by the offence, a Court sentencing an offender for any offence shall order that restitution be paid to any person injured by the offence, or to those having rights from the person injured, for the injuries suffered. The right of the injured party to institute a civil action shall not be affected by the acquittal or death of the accused.
