Article 1003

A finder who has complied with the requirements imposed upon him in Article 998 acquires ownership of the thing one year after he reported his find or took the appropriate steps to make his find known or made such investigations as were required in the circumstances, provided that at that time the thing is still under his control.

The preceding sub-Article does not apply where the owner or another person entitled to receive the thing has presented himself for that purpose to the depositary before the expiry of the applicable term.
