Article 2454
Limits of a Suretyship
(1)
A suretyship may not exceed the amount owed by the debtor, nor be contracted on more burdensome terms.
#(2)
It may be contracted in respect of part only of the obligation and subject to less burdensome terms.
#(3)
A suretyship which exceeds the amount of the obligation, or which has been contracted on more burdensome terms, is not void but merely reducible to the amount of the primary obligation.
