Article 24

Except where knowledge of the law is specifically required in the definition of an offence, ignorance of the law is not a defense.

Notwithstanding sub-Article (1), no person shall be found guilty where he engages in conduct by reason of a lack of knowledge of or mistake as to the law that reasonably results from:

the non-publication of a rule of law; or

the advice of a competent official or administrative authority.

The person who committed the breach of the law shall remain civilly liable for the injury caused.
