Article 678

The contract of adoption shall be of no effect unless it is approved by the Court.

Before making its decision, the Court shall hear the views of the person to be adopted, if the latter is over ten years of age, and, where the adopted person is a child, the person into whose custody the adopted child is to be entrusted, if such person has not given beforehand his consent to the adoption.

In respect of all children, including those who have not yet attained the age of ten years, the Court shall, insofar as possible, ascertain and give consideration to the child’s wishes and opinions regarding adoption.
