Occupational Diseases
(1)
An occupational disease is any pathological condition, whether caused by physical, chemical or biological agents, which arises as a consequence of the type of work performed by the employee or the surroundings in which he works.

Occupational diseases do not include endemic or epidemic diseases which are prevalent and contracted in the area where the work is done, except in the case of an employee exclusively engaged in combating such diseases by reason of his occupation.
